Americans are sweetening themselves sick but still cant stop shoving sugar into our systems. Why? Because we're seriously hooked. Research shows sugar to as addictive as the hardest-to-quit drugs. Tomorrow is children's favorite holiday. Shove as much candy as you possibly can into a bag and then mouth for the next month. Then it's Thanksgiving, Christmas and pies, cakes, and cookies coming from every direction. THE FACTS: The American Heart Association recommends no more than 9 tsp (38 g) of added sugar/ day for men, and 6 tsp (25 grams) per day for women. The AHA limits for children vary but approx 3-6 tsp (12 - 25 g) per day. The average American women eats 70 lbs A YEAR! The more you weigh = the more sugar you eat = more you're likely to weigh. Your sweet tooth adapts and keeps requiring more sugar to get the same sensory satisfaction. EX: 12oz Dr. Pepper - 64 g sugar! Airborne isn't simply Vitamin C - ingredients also include sorbitol and sucralose. Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sneaks 16 g sugar in 2 tbsp from high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, and sugar. The favorite fruity yogurt - 21g in 6 ounces.
The efforts that food manufacturers take to hide sugar from us is downright distributing. What can we do and what should we do?
